چکیده

A diffusion-kinetic model is presented for an enzyme-modified microcylinder electrode, where the enzyme reaction generates an electro-active product. Simple, approximate expressions are derived for the steady-state current in cases where the enzyme is immobilized in a metallically conducting, or a non-conducting matrix. The model is also extended to the chemical sensor case, of a conducting polymer without enzyme. The model is used to analyze steady-state signals for glucose produced by Pt-coated carbon fibres, on which glucose oxidase has been entrapped in poly(1,2-diaminobenzene). # 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Theoretical and Numerical Analysis of Electrocatalytic Processes at Conducting Polymer Modified Electrodes

A theoretical model of an electrocatalytic processes taking place at conducting polymer modified electrodes is discussed. In this model the diffusion of solution species, charge carriers and chemical reaction within the film are taken into account. The model involves the system of non-linear non-steady-state reaction diffusion equations. Analytical expressions pertaining to the concentrations a...

Characterization of protein-attached conducting polymer monolayer.

Cytochrome c (cyt c)-immobilized monolayers and multiple monolayers of a conducting polymer [poly(terthiophene-3-carboxylic acid) polymer (poly-TTCA)] were prepared, where the monolayer of monomer precursor was fabricated with the Langmuir-Blogett technique. Covalent immobilization of cyt c was achieved by the formation of an amide bond between the carboxylic groups of the conducting polymer an...

Analytical Solution of Steady State Substrate Concentration of an Immobilized Enzyme Kinetics by Laplace Transform Homotopy Perturbation Method

The nonlinear dynamical system modeling the immobilized enzyme kinetics with Michaelis-Menten mechanism for an irreversible reaction without external mass transfer resistance is considered. Laplace transform homotopy perturbation method is used to obtain the approximate solution of the governing nonlinear differential equation, which consists in determining the series solution convergent to the...

Design and Fabrication of Glucose/O2 Enzymatic Biofuel Cell

Enzyme-based biofuel cells (EBFCs) are systems that use a variety of organic compounds to produce electricity through oxido-reductase enzymes, such as oxidase or dehydrogenase as biocatalysts immobilized on electrodes. In this study, a single-chamber EBFC consisting of carbon electrodes that operating at ambient temperature in phosphate buffer, pH 7 is reported. The EBFC anode was based on gluc...

Transport and Kinetics at Carbon Nanotube –Redox Enzyme Composite Modified Electrode Biosensors Part 2. Redox enzyme dispersed in nanotube mesh of finite thickness

A mathematical model describing the transport and kinetics of substrate and redox mediator in surface deposited films of finite thickness is described. These bio-catalytically active chemically modified electrodes comprise redox enzymes immobilized in a highly dispersed mesh of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) which are in turn immobilized on a support metal surface. A small molecule redox...
